Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded significant operational successes across the country in the last 48 hours, killing more than 14 terrorists, intercepting ransom money and rescuing several kidnapped victims. The coordinated operations spanned multiple regions, reflecting intensified efforts to tackle insecurity.
A credible source at the Army Headquarters told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the troops also arrested several suspects during the operations, while many abducted victims were safely rescued from their captors.
In the North-East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI sustained offensive actions in parts of Borno and Yobe States. According to the source, 11 ISWAP/JAS terrorists were neutralised during ambushes, fighting patrols and follow-up operations in Bama, Konduga and Guzamala Local Government Areas. Arms, ammunition, motorcycles, bicycles and various logistics items, including food and energy drinks, were recovered.
The troops also arrested three suspected ISWAP/JAS collaborators, including logistics suppliers intercepted along the Konduga–Bama road. Items recovered from them included about 700 packs of energy drinks, mobile phones and cash.
In the North-West, troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA engaged terrorists in Zurmi and Maradun Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, forcing them to flee into surrounding bushes. In a major breakthrough in Kaduna State, soldiers intercepted a vehicle carrying ₦9 million ransom reportedly meant to secure the release of six children kidnapped in Katsina State.
The source said troops in the North-Central also foiled several kidnapping attempts in Plateau, Nasarawa and Taraba States. Many victims were rescued after the kidnappers fled upon sighting troops, while five suspected kidnappers were arrested in Kaduna State. Efforts, he added, are ongoing to rescue remaining abductees and apprehend fleeing criminals.
In the South-South, troops conducting anti-illegal bunkering operations in Akwa Ibom State uncovered about 600 litres of illegally refined automotive gas oil (AGO), which was handled in line with operational directives.
Reaffirming the army’s resolve, the source said the Nigerian Army remains committed to sustaining relentless operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, curbing criminal activities and safeguarding lives and property across the country.
