Abuja – Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed 17 terrorists, arrested 85 suspects, and rescued 10 kidnapped victims in a series of coordinated operations conducted across the country within the last 48 hours.
A credible military source at the Army Headquarters confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the operations were carried out across multiple theatres, targeting terrorist networks, collaborators, and criminal gangs.
According to the source, the arrested suspects include Boko Haram informants, logistics suppliers, terrorist collaborators, drug peddlers, and kidnappers, while the rescued victims are currently undergoing medical evaluation and profiling.
In the North East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai sustained counter-terrorism offensives under Operations Desert Sanity IV and Diligent Search, leading to intense encounters with Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents in Borno and Adamawa States.
Troops of the 202 and 222 Battalions reportedly came under ambush around Goni Kurmi and Kashomri in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno but fought gallantly, neutralizing several terrorists. Working with the Department of State Services (DSS), troops of 195 Battalion also arrested a notorious Boko Haram informant and ransom collector traced through monitored phone calls and bank transactions.
Elsewhere, troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, rescued two kidnap escapees, and arrested three major logistics suppliers transporting food and materials to ISWAP cells in Alagarno. In Adamawa, soldiers intercepted seven vehicles and nine motorcycles carrying 368 bags of cement suspected to be headed for terrorist enclaves.
Across the North West, troops under Operation Fansan Yamma conducted clearance operations in Sokoto and Zamfara States, rescuing civilians and repelling terrorist attacks along Faru–Bagabbuzi Road in Maradun LGA.
In the North Central region, Operation Enduring Peace troops rescued a kidnapped victim in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, and recovered multiple rifles, magazines, and over 1,200 rounds of ammunition in a separate raid at Rawaya Village. Similarly, Operation Whirl Stroke troops in Nasarawa and Benue States arrested suspected kidnappers and destroyed a terrorist camp in Gbagir, recovering weapons, mobile phones, and vehicle plates.
Meanwhile, in the South South, troops of Operation Delta Safe intensified their crackdown on oil theft. Patrol units intercepted 840 litres of illegally refined kerosene in Rivers State and 2,500 litres of illegal condensate in Delta State.
Overall, the operations led to the recovery of 15 assorted weapons, 21 magazines, and substantial quantities of ammunition and logistics materials.
The source reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to maintaining its operational momentum and ensuring that terrorists and criminal elements are denied freedom of action across the country.
