Sabon Birni, Sokoto State – July 27, 2025 — Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) have successfully neutralized three notorious terrorist commanders in a high-impact ambush operation conducted in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The operation, carried out on Thursday, July 25, between Mallamawa and Mazau villages in the Tsamaye/Mai Lalle axis, resulted in the deaths of the terrorist leaders, identified as Kachalla Nagomma, Gurmu, and Ali Yar Daribiyar.
The development was confirmed in a post by counterinsurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, on Saturday via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle.

During the ambush, troops recovered:

According to security sources, the terrorists had infiltrated the area with their foot soldiers to collect ransom payments and enforce illegal levies on local residents when the ambush was executed.
Widespread Relief in Affected Communities
The successful operation has sparked jubilation in several communities, including Mai Lalle, Tsamaye, and Rimaye, as well as in parts of Goronyo LGA.
“These terrorists have long tormented the communities with killings, kidnappings, and extortion. This success is a huge morale boost for the people,” a local source told reporters.

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have stepped up kinetic and non-kinetic operations, collaborating closely with other security agencies and local vigilante groups to secure rural communities across Sokoto and surrounding states.
The military has called on the public to support ongoing security efforts by providing credible and timely intelligence to help dismantle remaining criminal hideouts in the region.
