The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has extended warm Christmas greetings to Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora, reassuring them of the Federal Government’s commitment to religious freedom, peaceful coexistence, and national unity.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications Strategy, Alkasim Abdulkadir, the Minister described Christmas as a season that encourages reflection, compassion, and renewal. He noted that the values associated with the celebration align strongly with Nigeria’s rich mix of religious and cultural traditions.
Ambassador Tuggar emphasized that the government remains focused on strengthening institutions that protect all faith communities, promote social harmony, and ensure peaceful living among Nigerians, regardless of religious differences.
He added that the safety, dignity, and rights of Nigerians of all faiths—both within the country and abroad—continue to guide government policies and diplomatic efforts.
Calling on citizens to hold on to unity, patience, and hope during the festive season, the Minister stressed that Nigeria’s true strength lies in its diversity and shared future. He concluded by wishing Christians in Nigeria and around the world a peaceful Christmas and a New Year filled with good health and collective national progress.
