Umo Eno Steps In: Governor Backs Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air Amid Clash

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has stepped in to calm tensions surrounding the clash between Ibom Air and Comfort Emmanson, an indigene of the state who recently made headlines after her altercation with the airline’s crew.

Governor Eno, speaking at a grand reception in his hometown, Nsit Ubium, assured that both the airline and Emmanson will receive his full support, stressing that they are “all part of Akwa Ibom’s family.” He reminded citizens that Ibom Air is the pride of the state, a flagship project that carries the colours and investments of the people, while Emmanson, despite her mistakes, remains a daughter of the soil who deserves compassion.

Emmanson’s ordeal sparked nationwide attention after she was remanded over the confrontation but later pardoned by Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo. In an interview, she revealed the emotional toll of the incident, saying she felt traumatized and exposed, unable to interact freely since the saga.

Governor Eno urged Akwa Ibomites not to take sides or fuel further division. Instead, he called for understanding and unity, emphasizing that quarrels happen but must be resolved internally. “Whatever had transpired, we will solve the problem. Both parties belong to us. When two people fight, there’s always a third person to separate them,” he said with fatherly reassurance.
