revamped Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja has raked in a remarkable ₦650 million in just three weeks of operations.
Wike made this revelation during a media chat with a group of selected journalists in Abuja on Thursday, proudly noting that the investment in the facility is already yielding significant returns. The iconic centre was one of the many projects recently commissioned under Wike’s stewardship and is quickly proving to be more than just a facelift.
“In just three weeks, this centre has generated ₦650 million in revenue,” Wike said, pointing out the economic potential of strategic infrastructural investments in the capital city.
The state-of-the-art conference centre, formerly known as the International Conference Centre (ICC), was officially reopened on June 10 by President Bola Tinubu, who commended Wike for his hands-on leadership. As a mark of honour, the edifice was renamed the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre, cementing the president’s legacy in the capital’s transformation agenda.
At the inauguration ceremony, President Tinubu showered praises on the FCT Minister and jokingly referred to him as “the Landlord of Abuja,” acknowledging Wike’s visible imprint on the city’s landscape through ambitious projects and quick delivery timelines.
Since taking office, Wike has championed the revival of key infrastructure within the FCT—refurbishing roads, enhancing public amenities, and repositioning Abuja as a business-friendly capital. The revenue success of the conference centre appears to be a validation of that vision.
The minister’s revelation has since sparked conversations about how the FCTA can further leverage completed projects to boost internal revenue, reduce federal dependency, and attract both local and international investments.
