Wike Playing Spoiler to Stop PDP From Producing Strong 2027 Candidate – Baba Yusuf

Political strategist and Group CEO of Global Investment and Trade Company, Baba Yusuf, has accused the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, of deliberately trying to destabilize the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Yusuf claimed Wike’s “end game” is to block the emergence of credible contenders such as former President Goodluck Jonathan or former Labour Party candidate Peter Obi.

According to Yusuf, the PDP itself created this problem by allowing Wike to consolidate too much influence within the party. “They have slept on their hands and allowed the cob to become a lion,” he said, stressing that party elders failed to act years ago when they should have rebalanced control.

He described Wike’s moves as a calculated “linchpin strategy” designed to weaken the PDP’s internal stability, ensuring that it cannot field a formidable candidate against the ruling APC. Yusuf warned that the party’s over-reliance on individuals for funding has left it vulnerable to manipulation.

“If either Jonathan or Obi emerges as PDP’s candidate, they will be formidable against the APC,” Yusuf noted. “That’s exactly why Wike’s mission is to stop them.”

The allegation adds fuel to ongoing tensions within the PDP as it struggles to reposition itself as a credible opposition force ahead of 2027.
