Wike Removes FCT-IRS Acting Chairman Michael Ango With Immediate Effect
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has removed the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Mr. Michael Ango. The announcement was made on Friday in a statement released by Lere Olayinka, the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media.
According to the statement, Ango’s removal takes immediate effect, a decision the minister described as part of ongoing efforts to reorganise revenue-generating institutions within the FCT. The move signals Wike’s push for a more efficient and accountable revenue administration structure across the territory.
Olayinka also noted that Wike has directed the most senior official within the FCT-IRS to immediately assume leadership of the agency. This ensures that operations continue without interruption while the ministry prepares for a more permanent leadership arrangement.
“The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has sacked the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Michael Ango,” the statement read. It further added that the senior-most officer is to take charge of the agency’s operations at once.
However, the minister did not provide specific reasons for Ango’s removal, leaving the public awaiting further clarification on the circumstances behind the decision.
