In a fiery twist to Nigeria’s unfolding political drama, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has thrown down the gauntlet—calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make public the long-awaited forensic audit report of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Appearing on Politics Today on Channels Television Friday night, Wike didn’t hold back. He accused former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, of diverting about ₦4 billion monthly from the NDDC during his tenure. According to Wike, the funds were supposedly meant for training “Rivers women” but were allegedly funneled through a company linked to Amaechi’s wife.
Wike’s comments were a direct response to Amaechi’s recent praise of his wife as “a successful businesswoman, almost an industrialist.” But Wike says there’s more to the story—and it’s buried in the audit report.
“The audit report must not be hidden. President Tinubu should release it. Let Nigerians see the truth for themselves,” Wike declared.
He didn’t stop there. Wike also accused former Attorney General Abubakar Malami of deliberately burying the audit report to shield those implicated in alleged financial mismanagement—including Amaechi.
The forensic audit, initiated under the Buhari administration, was meant to uncover years of misappropriation of funds at the NDDC. But years later, it still hasn’t been made public—sparking growing suspicion that it contains explosive details.
Now, with Wike publicly demanding its release, the ball is in Tinubu’s court. Will the President finally unseal the report and hold powerful past officials accountable?
The Niger Delta is watching. The country is listening. And Wike just turned up the heat.
