“You Don’t Hear Word”: Outburst by Bauchi Governor’s Son Sparks Family Fallout and Public Backlash

Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, son of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, is again in the spotlight for the wrong reasons — this time over a vulgar Twitter tirade that has triggered a fresh storm of criticism from the public and even within his own family.

The outburst was in response to a Twitter user, Malaika, who had accused Shamsuddeen of corruption and using his father’s political office for personal gain. Instead of addressing the concern, Shamsuddeen lashed out with deeply offensive remarks. One of the most shocking lines from his now-viral tweet read:

“If that’s the case, I allege your mother is a wh0re and you are a bastard child, and that also makes it true.”

The profanity-laced response quickly spiraled into a major controversy online, with many Nigerians calling out his toxic entitlement and immaturity — especially as the son of a sitting governor. The backlash intensified after clips and screenshots of the tweet circulated widely.

Strained Family Ties and a Pattern of Recklessness

This isn’t the first time Shamsuddeen has stirred national controversy. His impulsive behavior, insiders say, has repeatedly embarrassed his father, the Bauchi governor, and deepened tensions within the Mohammed family.

In a separate but related scandal, the arrest of Dr. Abubakar Ahmad — a lecturer who shared a video of Shamsuddeen dancing with his wife — reportedly worsened the family’s internal crisis. The arrest, seen as an abuse of power, attracted attention to long-standing allegations of land grabbing, shady contract awards, and unchecked influence tied to Shamsuddeen and the First Lady.

Activist Omoyele Sowore amplified the issue, citing a growing list of ethical breaches involving the governor’s son. A source close to the family said Governor Bala, in a moment of frustration, told his son:

“I have repeatedly warned you to stop being childish in your public conduct, but you don’t hear words.”

A Family Embarrassed

The scandal has rocked the governor’s extended family. One relative, Mutawakkil Adamu Mohammed, didn’t hold back in a comment shared with local press:

“Shamsu has scandalised our entire family.”

Many now wonder if Shamsuddeen’s unchecked online rants and political missteps might eventually undermine his father’s legacy, or worse, jeopardize future electoral ambitions tied to the Mohammed dynasty.

In a digital age where tweets can dismantle credibility, one lesson is becoming painfully clear — power without restraint is a ticking time bomb, and Shamsuddeen may have just lit the fuse.
