IN a bid to accelerate the implementation of its 25-year development plan, the Borno state government under the leadership of governor Babagana Zulum has taken a giant leap forward by organizing a capacity training/workshop on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) for staff to enhance project efficiency and accountability.
Special Adviser on Monitoring and Evaluation, Bukar Gujbawu, disclosed this in an interview with Journalists on Friday during a closure of 5-day training program which took place at the M&E complex, Musa Usman Secretariat, Maiduguri.
According to Gujbawu, the training, conducted by MY IT CONSULT LIMITED, covered data collection, analysis, and reporting, as well as the use of specialized software and tools.
He explained that the Borno government has also provided vehicles to support the monitoring and evaluation teams so as to enable them conduct field assessments in remote areas.
The Special Adviser said the training is expected to lead to more accurate reporting, better decision-making, and improved project outcome.
“The government hopes to see a significant impact from this training, leading to better utilization of resources and improved development.” He said.
Also speaking, the CEO of MY IT Consult, Mr. Mubarak Yusuf, said the training will boost the efficiency of Governor Zulum’s projects, and it will lead to tangible improvements in the state’s infrastructure and economy.
“By prioritizing monitoring and evaluation, the Borno state government is demonstrating its commitment to transparency and accountability in the implementation of its 25-year development plan.” He added.
In an interview with some of the participants, Mr Andrew Ali and Musa Usman, from the Biu Zonal office of Monitoring and Evaluation said, “the training will surely enhance our skills in monitoring and evaluation.
“It was really a valuable experience as it has equipped us with the necessary tools and techniques to conduct effective monitoring and evaluation exercise.”
They also expressed their gratitude for the opportunity, stating that the training has boosted their confidence in collecting and analyzing data, reporting, and using specialized software and tools for development.
