Governor Babagana Zulum has at the weekend commissioned the multi million naira lodges established to restore civil authority in Bayo and Kwaya Kusar local government areas in southern Borno senatorial district.
The gigantic edifices newly built, is an initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry for Reconstruction with support from the World Bank’s Multisectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP AF), aims to bolster good governance and provide essential services to people of the state.
Zulum during commissioning of the projects was assisted by Governor of Gombe State, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya who is also the Chairman Northern Governors Forum.
In his remarks, Governor Zulum reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to improving the lives of its citizens through various reconstruction and recovery initiatives.
He encouraged the people of Bayo and Kwaya Kusar to take ownership of the projects, stressing the need for proper maintenance to ensure they serve their intended purpose for years to come.
In his address at the ceremony, Dr. Ali Umar Bashir, the Technical Coordination Specialist of MCRP, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Zulum for the timely completion and commissioning of the lodges, which he said, are set to play a pivotal role in local governance.
“These lodges will serve as a vital resource for restoring civil authority, enabling local leaders to effectively engage with their communities and deliver essential services”. He said.
Dr. Bashir also commended the contractor for the quality of work, emphasizing the importance of such projects in the ongoing recovery efforts in Borno State.
He highlighted that the lodges are not mere buildings but symbols of Authority, hope and commitment to rebuilding the state after years of crisis.
Many residents of the local government areas have expressed optimism that the lodges will enhance governance and service delivery, making it easier for them to access vital services.
