Lawmaker Empowers 2,500 in Ikorodu

THE Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Babajimi Benson, on Monday  empowered 2,500 of his constituents.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the lawmaker distributed  tricycles, mini-buses, industrial sewing machines, deep freezers, grinding machines, vulcanizing machines and hair driers to beneficiaries.

He also gave out solar panels, power generators and manual sewing machines, as well as  kiosks with multiple charging points.

Benson is the Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Defence.

He commended his constituents for their support, urging them to be patient with the Federal Government in its efforts to improve the economy.

He appealed to Nigerians to support the tax reform bill presented by President Bola Tinubu for the benefit of small scale business owners and the vulnerable.

He gave the assurance that Nigerians would  reap the fruit of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“Today, I should be the one thanking you for voting for me as your representative.

“There is need to make people to enjoy the fruit of their labour and sacrifices,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Cornelius Ojelabi, the Chairman of All Progressive Congress in Lagos State, commended the lawmaker for the empowerment, and appealed to Nigerians to support Tinubu’s policies.

Ojelabi said that the policies  would significantly boost Nigeria’s economy.

He advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the empowerment tools.

“I rejoice with  Ikorodu people for voting Jimi Benson as their representative at the House of Representatives,” he said.

A former Minister of Works, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, advised other elected officials  to emulate the kind gesture of Benson and  relate well with their constituents.

NAN reports that free diabetics and high blood pressure screenings were conducted on a sidelines of the event.

Mr Toyeeb Fatai, a beneficiary of a vulcanizing machine, thanked the lawmaker for the gesture,  and promised to use the tool to be self-reliant.

Also, Mr Olusegun Ogunnowo, who got a car washing machine, thanked Benson and promised to make good use of the machine.
