Glorious Vision University (GVU) has taken a significant step towards promoting peace and conflict resolution in Nigeria with the establishment of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies. On Thursday, July 3, 2025, the university’s Senate approved the institute’s establishment, appointing renowned academic, Professor Cyrille Ngamen Kouassi, as its pioneer Director.
Professor Ngamen Kouassi, a full professor of Ethics, Social, and Political Philosophy, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this new role. As a seasoned academic, he has taught, supervised, and co-supervised students in various disciplines, including Philosophy, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, and Peace and Conflict Resolution.
With his appointment, Professor Ngamen Kouassi is poised to provide academic and administrative leadership, ensuring the effective operation of the Institute. His vast experience in conducting research on peace, conflict, and security issues will undoubtedly shape the institute’s research agenda.
The Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies aims to generate evidence-based knowledge to inform effective peacebuilding strategies and address specific challenges faced in Nigeria.
Under Professor Ngamen Kouassi’s leadership, the institute has developed and implemented a strategic plan aligned with GVU’s mission, conducting research on peace, conflict, and security issues. Besides, he has engaged in building partnerships with government agencies, civil society organizations, and international organizations, towards promoting peacebuilding initiatives and career paths in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and human rights promotion.
As a testament to his exceptional leadership qualities, Professor Ngamen Kouassi’s appointment has been met with enthusiasm and confidence. His humility, integrity, and ability to work effectively in multicultural environments make him an ideal candidate for this role.
Currency, he is a full professor of ethics social and political philosophy. Currently, Professor Ngamen Kouassi is the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies at GVU ( 2022 till date). He is also the former Dean, College of Humanities ( 2020- 2022); Acting Dean, students affairs division ( 2014-2020) and Head, Department of Philosophy and religious studies ( 2011- 2022) at GVU.
Professor Cyrille Ngamen Kouassi has taught, supervised and co-supervised both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the disciplines of Philosophy, Sociology, Anthropology, Political science and Peace and Conflict resolution in various Universities for the past two decades. He has published extensively in both local and foreign outlets. Professor Cyrille Ngamen Kouassi is married to Dr Mrs Carine Ngamen and the union is blessed with children.
The establishment of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies at GVU marks a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to promoting peace and conflict resolution. With Professor Ngamen Kouassi at the helm, the institute is poised to make a meaningful impact in Nigeria and beyond.
