The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has come out strongly to debunk viral reports claiming it has appointed new State Chairmen across the country. The party described the claims as entirely false and cautioned Nigerians to be wary of misinformation spreading across social media and unverified online platforms.
In a statement issued by Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary and spokesperson for the opposition coalition, the ADC firmly stated that no such appointments had been made and that the party remains committed to due process and transparency in all its internal affairs.
“The African Democratic Congress (ADC) wishes to make it known to the public that the party is not aware of any appointment of State Chairmen as being circulated on the social media space,” Abdullahi said.
Beyond just setting the record straight, the party also raised the alarm about fraudulent websites pretending to be ADC’s official registration or communication channels. It urged members of the public, particularly its supporters and prospective members, to verify any information from recognized official sources before acting.
“This is a critical time in Nigeria’s democratic space,” the statement continued, “and we must not allow misinformation and fake news to disrupt the integrity of political engagement.”
The ADC reiterated its commitment to grassroots democracy and internal accountability while promising to update Nigerians on any genuine structural or leadership changes within the party through its official communication platforms.
