Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has sent a heartfelt message to members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its allied political movements, calling for patience, unity, and a renewed sense of purpose despite internal challenges within the party.
Speaking during the PDP South West Zonal Caucus meeting held in Ibadan on Friday, the governor drew a simple but powerful analogy that resonated deeply with those in attendance: “You can’t abandon your house because of a leaking roof.”
With that statement, Governor Makinde reminded party faithful that the PDP—like any long-standing political structure—may go through difficult periods, but walking away is not the solution.
“The PDP is built on solid foundations,” he said. “And like any structure, it may experience wear and tear. It’s our job to fix the leaks, reinforce the foundation, and ensure the house stays strong—for ourselves and for the people of this country.”
His message wasn’t just about politics; it was about loyalty, shared responsibility, and the importance of weathering storms together. Makinde acknowledged the sacrifices and commitment of PDP leaders and grassroots supporters who have stayed through the ups and downs.
He also assured them that he remains fully committed to working hand-in-hand with other party stakeholders to secure not just electoral victories but also the future relevance of the party.
“Let us fix the roof together and keep this house strong for the future,” Makinde urged, closing his remarks on a note of hope and collective strength.
At a time when political tensions and defections seem common, Governor Makinde’s call is a timely reminder that progress often comes through resilience, dialogue, and sticking together—especially when the roof is leaking.
