How Two Sisters Allegedly Plotted Their Own Brother’s Kidnap And Received N30m Ransom In Enugu

In a chilling twist of betrayal that has stunned many in Ebonyi and Enugu states, two sisters—Juliet Chukwu and Ngozi Nancy Chukwu—have been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force in Enugu for allegedly masterminding the abduction of their own elder brother, Mr. Friday Chukwu.

The siblings, who hail from Amaeze village in Ishiagu, Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State, are not just ordinary citizens. Juliet is reportedly an officer with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), while her sister Ngozi serves in the Nigeria Immigration Service. Although their affiliations are yet to be officially confirmed by their agencies, their arrests have ignited widespread outrage and disbelief.

According to information obtained by Punch, the shocking betrayal began last month when Mr. Friday Chukwu was abducted near the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla, along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway. Through what appeared to be a calculated setup, the sisters allegedly played subtle roles in luring him into a trap. His captors later demanded and reportedly received a ransom of ₦30 million for his release.

As investigators dug deeper, another disturbing link surfaced. On Monday, July 14, 2025, the General Manager of China Oriental Mining Company, Engr. Dennis Igwe, was also kidnapped in the same area. This time, a ₦10 million ransom was allegedly paid. Unbeknownst to the sisters, their trail was being closely followed.

Their luck ran out when they were tracked to a hotel where they were reportedly splitting the ₦10 million ransom. Police swooped in and arrested them, ending what authorities believe is a string of criminal operations tied to the sisters.

Activist and social media figure, Comrade Chika Nwoba, was among the first to break the news online, urging security agencies not to allow this case to quietly fade away like others allegedly linked to the pair. “They’ve been accused of staging kidnaps with Fulani herders, looting railway materials, and even pipeline vandalism. The impunity must end,” he said in a post.

Local government officials are equally shaken. Chief Emmanuel Ajah, Chairman of Ivo LGA, confirmed the arrests, noting that although the crimes took place outside his jurisdiction, he has formally contacted both the Enugu Police Command and the Ebonyi NSCDC. “They said six people were involved—two have been arrested, and four others are still at large,” he explained.

Ajah stressed that the wellbeing of the Ivo community remains a priority. “We’re committed to ensuring peace and safety for our people. This betrayal has deeply affected us all, especially those who knew Mr. Friday Chukwu personally.”

As the investigation continues, the case raises deep questions about the erosion of trust, even within families—and how those sworn to protect the nation could allegedly turn against their own blood.
