Reuben Abati Among Those Who Caused Jonathan’s 2015 Defeat — Aisha Yesufu

Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has blamed Reuben Abati, former Special Adviser on Media to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, for contributing to Jonathan’s defeat in the 2015 presidential election.

In a post shared on her official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, July 25, Aisha claimed that Abati’s actions during Jonathan’s administration were among the reasons the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost power to the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the leadership of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

“It is people that didn’t know Reuben Abati during Jonathan that are surprised when he does or says certain things,” she wrote.

“If you count people that led to former President Jonathan losing the 2015 election, Reuben Abati is amongst the first to be counted.

You think Femi Adesina was obnoxious? You didn’t meet Reuben Abati in action.”

Abati served as Jonathan’s media adviser from 2011 to 2015. Since leaving office, he has returned to journalism and political commentary, often drawing strong reactions from various quarters.

Aisha Yesufu is a co-founder of the #BringBackOurGirls movement and a vocal critic of political figures across party lines.
