ADC Vows to Unseat Soludo, Promises to ‘Rebuild Anambra and Nigeria’

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has set its sights on taking over the Anambra State Government House, with its National Chairman, David Mark, declaring that the party is ready to “rebuild Nigeria” starting from Anambra.

Speaking through the party’s founder, Okey Ralphs Nwosu, at the official flag-off of ADC’s governorship campaign in Onitsha, Mark said the party’s candidate, John Nwosu, will emerge victorious in the November 8, 2025 election.

“ADC is the new coalition party and it is gaining ground in both the North and South,” Nwosu told the cheering crowd at All Saints Cathedral. “Anambra is the birthplace of the party, and I believe we will be even stronger here. We want to bring in a leader with real business sense to turn this state around. Our handshake symbol represents peace, and the first governor to champion that will be John Nwosu.”

‘Soludo has failed on all fronts’

Taking the stage, ADC’s governorship hopeful, John Nwosu, wasted no time in attacking incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo, accusing him of running Anambra into the ground.

“Governance is not rocket science, but it’s also not trial-and-error,” Nwosu said. “Soludo has failed on security, failed on development, failed to respect the rule of law, and failed our traditional institutions. Simply put—Soludo is an all-round failure. He has to go.”

Nwosu painted a grim picture of Anambra under the current administration, describing it as “a crime scene riddled with bloodletting” where residents are “over-taxed and under-served.” He accused Soludo of using “brutality to collect revenue,” claiming that some citizens had been maimed or even killed by government agents.

“Soludo’s so-called ‘solution’ has become ‘pollution,’” Nwosu declared. “Anyone supporting him for a second term does not love Anambra. We must secure our state again.”

Party flags handed to candidates

During the rally, the ADC leadership also presented flags to the party’s candidates, including Mrs. Justina Azuka, widow of a slain former state lawmaker, who will contest the Anambra South senatorial by-election, and John Nwosu for governor.

With the campaign officially underway, ADC leaders say they are confident of victory—not just to unseat Soludo, but to begin what they call a broader mission to “rebuild Nigeria from Anambra State.”
