Amaechi Alleges Peter Obi Won 2023 Presidential Election in Rivers State

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has claimed that Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi actually won the 2023 presidential election in Rivers State.

Speaking during an X Space discussion on Saturday, Amaechi said:

“I can agree with you to some extent that Obi won Rivers State. But I don’t know how the results were changed.”

His remarks add a fresh layer to the lingering controversy over the February 2023 poll, whose credibility has been hotly debated across the country.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the overall winner, with the Rivers State tally showing APC in first place with 231,591 votes, LP in second with 175,071 votes, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in third with 88,468 votes.

Amaechi’s statement is likely to fuel renewed debate over alleged electoral irregularities, particularly in states where opposition parties had raised concerns about the integrity of the results.
