Former Rivers State Governor, Celestine Omehia, has taken a swipe at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing him of being disrespectful and obsessed with political control.
In a statement issued Friday by his Executive Assistant, Nicholas Amaechi, Omehia reacted to Wike’s recent live television interview in Abuja, where the FCT Minister reportedly referred to him and other PDP leaders backing Governor Siminalayi Fubara and President Bola Tinubu as “expired politicians and buccaneers.”
Omehia described Wike’s remarks as the rantings of “a confused mind” struggling to accept that his “third-term ambition” in Rivers politics has collapsed.
According to him, Wike’s real frustration stems from losing his grip on the state’s governance and resources. He alleged that only public resistance, backed by divine intervention, stopped Wike’s allies in the Rivers State House of Assembly from impeaching Governor Fubara.
“He is known for lying against anyone, anytime, and for disrespecting elders without restraint,” Omehia said. “I am not a buccaneer, and my ability to contribute to the development of my state and country is not diminished. Why is he upset that we support the governor and the Federal Government under President Tinubu? Must we remain in constant political war long after elections are over?”
Omehia urged Wike to focus on his duties in Abuja, insisting Rivers State is not missing his presence. He warned that the FCT Minister’s “excesses, inconsistencies, and hallucinations” have now reached “a regrettable peak.”
