Fear Grips Kwara North As Bandits Strike Again, Abduct Woman In Lafiagi Emirate

Bandits have once again unleashed terror in Kwara North, abducting a woman from Kpanpkanragi village in the Lafiagi Emirate, Edu Local Government Area. Residents said the attack happened around midnight, leaving the entire community in shock and fear.

Eyewitnesses told Nupeko TV that the gunmen stormed the village in large numbers, carrying sophisticated weapons. They fired multiple shots into the air to scare people before whisking the woman away to an unknown location. This latest incident adds to the growing wave of kidnappings tormenting rural communities in the Lafiagi Emirate.

Just a day earlier, the Kwara State Police Command confirmed that armed bandits carried out coordinated attacks on Motokun and Agboro communities in Patigi Local Government. According to police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, six people were abducted during the Motokun raid, while six others sustained gunshot injuries. Sadly, one of the victims, a woman, later died in hospital.

The bandits then moved to Agboro, where they attacked a private company. In the chaos, a police officer was killed in active duty, while properties within the facility were vandalised. The police described his death as gallant sacrifice in the line of service.

In response, Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, has ordered the deployment of tactical teams working alongside the Nigerian Army and other security stakeholders. Their mission is to restore calm and secure the release of those kidnapped.

For now, communities across Kwara North remain tense, as residents continue to live in fear of further attacks.
