Police Detain Two Sisters Who Fought After Missing Flight at Abuja Airport

Two sisters have been detained by officers of the Nigeria Police Force after engaging in a physical fight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Sunday.

The altercation reportedly began after the siblings missed their scheduled NG Eagle flight due to late arrival. According to eyewitnesses, the disagreement quickly escalated into a heated exchange that turned violent, causing one of the sisters to faint during the confrontation.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, said the fight continued even after the sisters were taken to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) clinic for medical attention. The elder sister, who had initially fainted, reportedly resumed the brawl upon regaining consciousness.

Achimugu explained that the situation became so uncontrollable that airport security had to involve the police. “They were both brought back to the crime office for resolution, but the fierce fighting continued. The police were invited, and both sisters were led away by officers of the Nigeria Police,” he wrote on 𝕏.

He expressed concern about the strange nature of the incident, adding that it could have been more dangerous had it occurred mid-flight. “If these ladies had been on that flight and started to fight on board the aircraft… hmmm,” he remarked.

The dramatic scene drew the attention of travelers and airport staff, leaving many stunned by the public display. The police are expected to investigate the cause of the altercation and determine the next steps in resolving the dispute between the sisters.
