A Nigerian businesswoman, identified online as Iymarboss, has expressed deep frustration after discovering that one of the expensive sneakers she ordered from abroad went missing when her shipment arrived in Nigeria.
In a viral post, she alleged that officers of the Nigeria Customs Service tampered with her goods during inspection. According to her, the customs officials tore open her carton, and upon receiving her shipment, she realized that one of her most valuable sneakers was gone.
Expressing her pain, she explained that she runs her business without any sponsors, relying solely on her hard work and determination. Every loss, she said, hits her hard because she has no financial backup. The missing item, she added, was meant for a customer, which has now placed her in a difficult situation.
“Some of us don’t have sponsors; it’s God fueling our hustle. Imagine these goods belonged to a customer, what explanation would I even give for them to trust me again?” she lamented in one of her emotional posts.
She further accused customs officers of unprofessional conduct, claiming that several items in her shipment were tampered with despite being cleared through official procedures. “Most of my goods were tampered with; customs removed items, especially my most expensive sneakers. I’m really hurt,” she wrote.
Her story has since sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians calling for accountability and transparency within the customs service, especially regarding how imported goods are handled during clearance.
