A new chapter is about to unfold at the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) as Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida takes over as the institution’s next Vice-Chancellor. His appointment, officially confirmed by the FULafia Governing Council, marks the beginning of a fresh era for the university. Prof. Kida, a respected academic and accomplished accountant, previously served as the Dean of the Faculty of Management Science, where he earned a reputation for excellence, integrity, and strong leadership.
His appointment letter, dated October 29, 2025, was presented by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Mrs. Lola Fibisola Akande. According to the document, Prof. Kida’s tenure will last for a single term of five years, commencing on February 11, 2026. The Council expressed deep confidence in his ability to steer the university toward greater academic and administrative advancement, emphasizing that his “wealth of experience” will play a vital role in FULafia’s continued growth.
Prof. Kida’s leadership comes at a time when the university is expanding its academic programs and striving to enhance its national and international reputation. Colleagues describe him as a visionary who combines professionalism with compassion — qualities that many believe will help strengthen the university’s foundation and promote innovation in management and research.
He will be succeeding Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, whose tenure officially ends in February 2026. As the academic community anticipates this transition, expectations are high that Prof. Kida’s appointment will bring renewed focus, harmony, and strategic progress to the institution’s mission of excellence in teaching, research, and service.
With his background in management science and accounting, Prof. Kida is expected to bring financial discipline and organizational efficiency to the university — qualities that could redefine FULafia’s next phase of growth and sustainability.
