Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has launched a scathing attack on U.S. President Donald Trump, following Trump’s recent comments suggesting possible military intervention in Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.
In a fiery post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Fani-Kayode described Trump as a “deranged and sociopathic megalomaniac,” accusing him of hypocrisy, double standards, and blind allegiance to what he called “Zionist atrocities.”
The backlash follows Trump’s decision to designate Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern (CPC)’, alleging government failure to protect religious minorities. Despite Nigeria’s swift denial, Trump doubled down, warning of potential U.S. military involvement.
Reacting, Fani-Kayode blasted the former U.S. president for ignoring “Israeli war crimes and UAE-backed atrocities in Darfur”, while attempting to brand Nigerians as genocidal. He argued that Trump’s comments were both insulting and provocative, urging African leaders to stop trusting Western nations with imperial motives.
“Imagine a deranged and sociopathic megalomaniac threatening our country with invasion,” Fani-Kayode wrote. “Trump, a fascist and associate of the Hitler of the 21st century, Netanyahu, refuses to call Israeli and UAE-backed butchers genocidal but dares to label Nigerians as killers of Christians.”
He further warned the Tinubu administration against succumbing to diplomatic pressure from Trump’s circle, describing the former president’s MAGA movement as “driven by right-wing fundamentalism and anti-Muslim bigotry.”
The heated exchange adds to the growing diplomatic tension between Washington and Abuja, following Trump’s controversial statements about Nigeria’s internal affairs.
