Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has assured residents that the state remains safe despite rising banditry incidents in some neighbouring states. He praised security agencies for acting quickly and working ahead of threats to keep Osun peaceful and protected.
In a statement from his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor thanked citizens for their support and promised continued delivery of democratic benefits across education, health, infrastructure, ICT, agriculture, cooperative empowerment, sports, water supply, and overall security. He said several strategic steps are already in motion to prevent any form of security breach.
Governor Adeleke also commended the Commissioner of Police, the DSS, the Army Commander, the NSCDC Commandant, and other security partners for their vigilance. He confirmed that meetings have been held with leaders of border communities to keep watch, improve coordination, and strengthen capacity to repel any intrusion.
He noted that the Inspector-General of Police, Director-General of the DSS, Chief of Defence Staff, and NSCDC Commandant-General have shown strong support to Osun’s security efforts. While urging residents to stay alert, he encouraged them to report any suspicious activity promptly.
The governor said security deployments have already been made in sensitive areas, adding that the intelligence community has a clear understanding of potential threats within the state. He praised the DSS for recent arrests of high-profile terrorist suspects and the dismantling of their hideouts in Osun.
Adeleke urged everyone to remain calm, stressing that security agencies are fully in control. He called on residents, local vigilantes, hunters, and Amotekun operatives to work closely with the police to ensure stronger protection of lives and property.
He also directed Amotekun to maintain full collaboration with the police and other security outfits, emphasising that all local and formal security structures must operate within established protocols to keep Osun safe from bandits and terrorist elements.
