Maria Sol Messi, sister of football superstar Lionel Messi, has been hospitalized following a severe car accident in Miami, forcing the postponement of her wedding. The 32-year-old reportedly suffered multiple injuries, including burns and spinal fractures, after losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a wall.
Argentinian journalist Angel de Brito confirmed on US TV programme LAM that Maria Sol is out of danger but faces a slow recovery. She has since returned to her hometown of Rosario, Argentina, for rehabilitation. Her mother, Celia Cuccittini, revealed that she sustained two fractured vertebrae, along with fractures to her heel and wrist, after fainting behind the wheel.
The wedding to Julian “Tuli” Arellano, coach of Inter Miami’s under-19 team, has now been postponed. Maria Sol, a fashion designer and entrepreneur, previously worked as brand manager at The Messi Store and has collaborated with Virginia Hilfiger. Despite her low public profile, her accident has drawn widespread attention given her family ties and professional background.
