IG Egbetokun Reshuffles Police Leadership, Deploys New DIG and 17 Commissioners Nationwide

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the deployment of a newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police and 17 Commissioners of Police to key commands and departments across the country.

According to the Force Headquarters, the move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force, improve leadership effectiveness, and enhance public safety and service delivery nationwide.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, explained that the deployments followed recent promotions and were aimed at repositioning the police force for better performance.

The newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, has been assigned to head the Force Intelligence Department, a strategic unit responsible for intelligence gathering and analysis.

Among the commissioners posted to state commands, CP Aina Adesola will now lead the Delta State Police Command, CP Umar Mohammed Hajedia takes over in Kebbi State, while CP Iyamah Daniel Edobor has been deployed to head the Bayelsa State Police Command.

Other appointments include CP Osagie John Agans-Irabor as Commissioner of Police in charge of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit at the FCID Annexe in Lagos, and CP Johnson Ayodeji Babalola as Commissioner of Police, Special Enquiries Bureau, FCID, Abuja.

Also redeployed are CP Adepegba K. Adetoye to the Marine Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Tabitha Bako as Deputy Commandant of the Police College in Kaduna; and CP Umar Ali Fagge as Deputy Commandant of the Police College, Ikeja.

Further postings include CP Audu Garba Bosso, who has been appointed Commissioner of Police, General Investigation, at the FCID Annexe in Kaduna, as the police leadership continues its nationwide restructuring drive.
