Federal Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger (CDU) is in favor of an unconditional basic income. This is a good idea, but there is a flaw in the thinking

Something really big must be happening when a politician… CDU suggests transferring money to people month after month just like that and without anything in return. Because the Union is actually heading in the opposite direction. Before his election as Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, for example, described the previous citizens’ benefit as unfair because it meant that working people financed those who could work but do not. And the CDU is proud of it to have replaced this citizen’s money with new rules that provide for tougher sanctions for those who refuse to work. Nothing is unconditional.
