A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to popular blogger Chidiebere Justice Mark, widely known as “Justice Crack,” setting his bail at N5 million with one surety in like sum.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, who also imposed strict conditions on the surety. According to the court, the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, show proof of a fixed address for at least four years, and provide documentation such as a tenancy agreement or certificate of occupancy.
The court further required that the surety must be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 15, backed with salary records, an official letter of authentication, and proof of pensionable employment.
Justice Abdulmalik also directed the surety to submit an affidavit of means and a recent passport photograph, while the defendant himself was ordered to deposit his international passport with the court.
Justice Crack is being prosecuted by the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged cybercrime offences linked to a viral video involving the Nigerian Army. The case has drawn public attention, especially after reports that he was allegedly picked up by military intelligence officers after honouring an invitation.
The matter has now been adjourned as trial continues.
