Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has donated ₦10 million to Practising Nursery and Primary School in Agulu, Anambra State, to support reconstruction efforts after a fire outbreak that damaged parts of the school in December 2024.
Obi had earlier visited the school in November 2025, where the headmistress, Comrade Eucharia Egwuonwu, briefed him on the extent of the destruction. She explained that the incident disrupted learning and led to the withdrawal of some pupils due to concerns over safety and facilities.
During that visit, he pledged to return with support—an assurance he fulfilled on Thursday when he presented the donation to aid rebuilding efforts.
The presentation was met with excitement from pupils and staff, with videos showing students applauding the gesture during the event.
The contribution adds to Obi’s record of personal interventions in education-related challenges, including a similar ₦10 million donation to Western Academy in March 2026.
While many praised the gesture as consistent with his hands-on approach to public service and grassroots engagement, others offered mixed reactions, arguing that the donation could be seen as modest given his public profile and influence.
