Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu Reacts to Ministerial Appointment, Promises to Push Nigeria’s Global Interests

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has publicly expressed deep gratitude following her appointment as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, describing the role as both an honour and a serious call to serve the nation at a higher level. Her reaction came shortly after the announcement, and it reflects both humility and readiness for the responsibility ahead.

Taking to her verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, she thanked Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting her with such a critical national position. According to her, the appointment, which was made on April 29, 2026, is not something she takes lightly, as it comes with expectations to represent Nigeria on the global stage.

She made it clear that she feels honoured by the confidence placed in her abilities, noting that she is committed to justifying that trust. In her words, she expressed heartfelt appreciation to the President, adding that she is humbled by the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s diplomatic efforts.

Looking ahead, the new minister stated that her focus will be on strengthening Nigeria’s foreign policy direction, especially in alignment with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. She highlighted her intention to boost citizen diplomacy and support the 4D Foreign Policy priorities, which are central to the country’s international engagements.

Beyond policy, she also reassured Nigerians of her dedication to national service. According to her, advancing Nigeria’s interests globally will remain a top priority, and she pledged to work diligently in ensuring the country’s voice remains strong and respected internationally.

Her appointment follows the resignation of Yusuff Tuggar, who is reportedly preparing to contest the Bauchi State governorship election in 2027. With this transition, expectations are already building around how Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu will shape Nigeria’s diplomatic landscape in the coming years.
