DIG. Gumel Says No Official Communication Received on Jigawa APC Consensus Candidacy.

Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police Mohammed Usaini Gumel, an aspirant for the Gumel/Gagarawa/Sule Tankarkar/Maigatari Federal Constituency seat in Jigawa State, has dismissed circulating rumours of a consensus candidacy, saying no official communication has been made to him on the matter.

In a press release signed by Amb. Sani Muhammad Sani, Director of Media and Publicity for the aspirant, Gumel called on his supporters to remain calm, united, and respectful as the party’s selection process unfolds.

“I have seen the rumours circulating about the consensus candidacy. I want to kindly assure you that no official communication has been made to me on this matter,” the statement read. DIG. Gumel Said

The retired police chief emphasized that discipline and focus have been the hallmark of his support base, and urged members to uphold those values. “We will continue to engage the process with patience and dignity,” he said.

Gumel further advised supporters to wait for a formal presentation of the party’s consensus candidate by the Governor or the APC leadership, noting that it should follow the same procedure used when His Excellency, the Governor, emerged.

Gumel while while thanking his supporters for their unwavering support and prayers, added “Please disregard unverified information. I will personally update you at the appropriate time.”

The clarification comes amid growing speculation within Jigawa APC circles over the party’s 2027 candidate selection process, as various aspirants jostle for endorsement ahead of the general elections.
