Fallen Hero Honoured: Brigadier-General Oseni Braimah Laid to Rest in Maiduguri

Grief, honour, and solemn reflection filled the air as Oseni Braimah, a senior officer killed by terrorists in Benisheikh, was laid to rest in a ceremony that underscored the sacrifices of Nigeria’s armed forces.

The burial took place at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri, where the Nigerian Army paid its final respects to a man described as courageous and deeply committed to national service. The atmosphere was heavy with emotion as fellow soldiers, family members, and dignitaries gathered to bid farewell.

Braimah was buried alongside Azubuike Michael Esimai and other soldiers who lost their lives in the same line of duty. Together, they were honoured not just as individuals, but as symbols of the ongoing fight to secure the nation.

Among those present were Babagana Zulum, Christopher Musa, and Olufemi Oluyede, alongside other senior military officers. Their presence reflected the weight of the loss and the respect accorded to the fallen.

The ceremony was marked by full military honours—a final salute to lives dedicated to protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty. Each gesture, from the procession to the farewell rites, carried a quiet reminder of the cost of service.

Beyond the uniforms and ranks, the moment brought into focus the human side of the conflict—families left grieving, comrades left remembering, and a nation reminded of the daily risks borne by its defenders.

In the end, the burial was not just about loss, but about legacy. A reminder that behind every headline are individuals who gave everything in the line of duty.
