A grieving mother in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has called for justice after her three children were allegedly killed in a tragic road accident involving a learner driver on May 16.
Mrs. Amarachi Esomonu said she lost her children aged 10, 4, and 3 in the incident, describing the moment as devastating and life-changing. In a viral video, she alleged that efforts were being made by some individuals to suppress the case and shield those responsible from prosecution.
Visibly distressed, she appealed for public support, insisting that her children should not be denied justice. “My children will not just go like that,” she said. “I lost my three kids all because of a careless person. They should not let them go scot-free.”
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident, describing it as painful and unfortunate. Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, expressed condolences to the family and assured that a full investigation is underway.
Police spokesperson, Agabe Blessing-Kaborlo, said in a statement that the command is committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and ensuring that anyone found culpable faces justice.
According to the police, the public is urged to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified claims, and allow investigators to carry out a thorough and transparent process.
The incident has continued to spark emotional reactions online, with many calling for stricter enforcement of driving regulations and better supervision of learner drivers to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
