The Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) has issued a formal statement addressing a bullying incident involving some of its students, which recently circulated on social media and sparked public concern.
In the statement released on Saturday, May 9, 2026, the institution explained that it deliberately delayed public commentary after the videos emerged online to allow for a thorough and impartial internal investigation. According to the school, this approach was intended to ensure that only verified information was shared with parents and stakeholders in line with due process.
NTIC described itself as a long-established educational institution with over 28 years of operation in Nigeria, noting its reputation for academic excellence, discipline, and holistic student development. The school reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment across all its campuses.
The management emphasized that it maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy on bullying, harassment, intimidation, and other forms of student misconduct. It stated that once the incident became public, an internal review was immediately launched to examine both the conduct of the students involved and the circumstances surrounding the recording and online circulation of the videos.
Following the investigation, the institution said “appropriate disciplinary and corrective measures” had been taken in line with its safeguarding procedures and school regulations, although it did not disclose specific sanctions.
The school also confirmed that meetings were held with the Parent-Teacher Association executive and the parents of both the affected students and those involved in the incident. It added that counselling and psychological support have been arranged to address the emotional impact on the students.
In response to concerns about privacy, NTIC said it had engaged relevant authorities to assist in the removal of the circulating videos, warning that continued sharing could worsen the psychological distress of the minors involved. The institution urged the public to stop reposting the content.
The school further announced a review of its safety, disciplinary, and student protection policies, stating that it would strengthen its safeguarding systems in collaboration with educational and regulatory bodies.
The statement follows earlier reports of the incident involving a Junior Secondary School student identified as Zara at the Abuja campus, which triggered widespread reactions online after video clips of the alleged assault surfaced.
NTIC reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, child protection, and moral values, expressing appreciation to parents and stakeholders for their cooperation during what it described as a sensitive period.
