Pastor Enoch Adeboye has added his voice to the conversation surrounding the Super Falcons’ historic WAFCON win—and he’s calling for more recognition of the team’s brains, not just the brawn.
Speaking during his Sunday sermon on August 3, the revered General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his generous reward to the Nigerian female footballers, which included $100,000 and a three-bedroom apartment for each player. But the 83-year-old cleric believes the technical team deserves even more.
According to Adeboye, while the players put in the physical effort, the coaches were the architects of victory. “No matter how good a player is, without guidance from the coach, they may not know how to win,” he said.
Drawing from his own past as a former sportsman, Pastor Adeboye emphasized that wisdom often trumps strength. “The coaches didn’t just watch—they taught, strategized, and inspired. They are just as important, if not more.”
His message was simple but powerful: celebrate those who build the strategy, not just those who execute it on the field.
