Lola Idije Gets Real on the Struggles of Single Motherhood

Veteran Yoruba actress, Lola Idije, has bared her heart on what it really means to walk the road of single parenting. In a candid conversation with fellow actress Ayo Adesanya, she admitted that raising children alone is one of the toughest battles any woman can face.

Speaking in Yoruba, Lola Idije explained that single parenting is far from easy. From school fees to daily survival, she said the burden often falls solely on the mother, while the much-needed support from friends or relatives rarely comes as promised.

She didn’t mince words about men either. According to her, many men are not serious and sometimes approach women with bad intentions, even turning them into wagers among friends. Worse still, she said actresses are often looked down on, with some men believing they can buy their way in with just ₦500,000.

Her advice to women was simple but stern: “Trust no one.” She lamented that those who can help single mothers often choose to spend lavishly on fun rather than offering support where it truly matters.

Still, Lola Idije saluted women who, despite everything, keep pushing forward for the sake of their children. To her, single mothers are unsung warriors carrying weights many cannot imagine.
