Tiwa Savage Says Nigerians Don’t Give Her Enough Credit for Her Impact

Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has expressed disappointment over what she describes as a lack of recognition from Nigerians and the country’s music industry despite her groundbreaking contributions.

Speaking on the OffAir Show hosted by Gbemi and Toolz, the award-winning singer admitted she doesn’t feel adequately celebrated for her role in shaping the global Afrobeats sound. When asked by Toolz if she believes she has received her flowers from the industry, Tiwa simply replied, “No. I’m sorry, I don’t.”

Often hailed as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” Tiwa Savage has built a legacy that spans over a decade, inspiring a new generation of female artists and taking African music to international stages. Yet, the ‘Malo’ crooner insists that despite her influence and numerous awards, the recognition at home still falls short of what she has earned.

Her statement has since stirred conversation online, with fans and industry observers debating whether Nigerian artists truly get celebrated enough while they are still active.
