DR Congo Edge Cameroon to Set Up World Cup Play-Off Clash With Nigeria

DR Congo secured a place in the CAF World Cup qualifying play-off final after a narrow 1-0 victory over Cameroon on Thursday.

In a tightly contested encounter, both sides created chances but failed to break the deadlock until veteran defender Chancel Mbemba struck late in the second half. Mbemba reacted quickest inside the box, firing home the decisive goal to seal a crucial win for the Leopards.

Cameroon pressed for an equaliser in the closing minutes, but DR Congo held firm, showing discipline and composure to maintain their lead.

With this victory, DR Congo now advance to face Nigeria in the final stage of the CAF play-offs, a fixture that will determine who progresses to the inter-confederation play-offs for a chance to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
