Tech billionaire: Why Peter Thiel is funding an AI tribunal for journalists

Is Benjamin Netanyahu a war criminal? Did Donald Trump write “may every day be another wonderful secret” in a 50th birthday card to Jeffrey Epstein? Did singer Katy Perry sexually abuse an Australian actress 16 years ago, which Perry denies? And did podcaster Joe Rogan really advise his listeners to take Ivermectin, a horse wormer, to combat Covid-19?

These are questions for investigative authorities or international law experts; perhaps courts will decide on them at some point. By then, however, judgments could have already been made. These and other cases are currently being heard on a website called Objection. There is talk of a “tribunal of truth”. And even if his guilty verdicts are, from a legal perspective, worth about as much as the signature of a primary school child, they could still have influence.
