Senator Ndume Condemns Renewed Boko Haram Attacks After Four Farmers Killed in Borno

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has condemned the resurgence of terrorist attacks across parts of his constituency, describing the situation as “deeply worrisome” and entirely unacceptable.

In a statement on Thursday, the lawmaker disclosed that four farmers were brutally murdered by Boko Haram insurgents while working on their farmlands in Kwam village, near the Dille community in the Askira-Uba Local Government Area.

Ndume explained that the victims were targeted while harvesting their crops — a development he said highlights the persistent vulnerability of remote communities despite years of counter-insurgency operations.

“I am very much perturbed over the renewed attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in some parts of my constituency in the last week. These attacks led to the killing of four farmers while harvesting their crops in Kwam village, near Dille community of Askira-Uba Local Government Area,” he stated.

The senator noted that the killings were part of a broader escalation, pointing out that insurgents have intensified raids on multiple communities.

“Just last week, a church and other infrastructures in Pemi were set ablaze, and yesterday (Wednesday), there were reports of Boko Haram invasion in the Shikarkir community of Chibok Local Government Area,” Ndume lamented.

He criticised the inability of security operatives to maintain a consistent presence in vulnerable settlements, arguing that the gap in security deployment has emboldened insurgents to strike without resistance.

“The situation is worrisome. This is because the inability of security agencies to man such remote communities in my constituency has led to the increase in attacks without confrontation,” he added.

Ndume urged the military and security authorities to scale up surveillance, strengthen deployments, and prioritise the protection of farming communities already grappling with the impact of years of insurgency.
