lieutenant A.M. Yerima, the young Nigerian Navy officer recently involved in a confrontation with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was reportedly trailed by unidentified individuals in Abuja on Monday evening.
According to credible sources, two unmarked Hilux vans with no number plates allegedly followed the officer from the NIPCO Filling Station along the Kubwa Expressway down to Gado Nasco Way. The vehicles, described as suspicious and coordinated in their movement, maintained a close distance behind him.
Yerima, however, was said to have employed calculated evasive manoeuvres to outwit the trailing vans, eventually losing them before proceeding to safety. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Officials familiar with the matter have confirmed that an investigation is underway. One source, who declined to offer additional details, noted that sensitive information is being withheld to avoid jeopardising ongoing inquiries.
Yerima’s recent clash with FCT Minister Wike—an encounter that drew widespread public attention—has continued to generate mixed reactions nationwide. Following the confrontation, the Presidency reportedly intervened, leading to the withdrawal of demolition equipment earlier deployed to the disputed land at Gaduwa District.
Authorities are expected to release further updates as the investigation progresses.
