The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has proposed to spend about ₦10.5 billion on the construction of 30 kilometres of road networks across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
The proposed road projects form part of the over ₦460.7 billion capital expenditure allocated to the FCTA in the 2026 National Budget. The administration operates under two budget streams: the National Priority Budget, which is embedded in the national budget, and its Statutory Budget, funded through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and other independent sources.
Beyond road construction, the capital budget also includes ₦35 billion for the continued provision of water to satellite towns and ₦31.36 billion for a 5.7-kilometre extension of the Abuja MetroLight rail project, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and public transport in the territory.
President Bola Tinubu presented the ₦58.47 trillion 2026 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly on December 19, 2025. The budget is based on projected revenues of ₦34.33 trillion, a deficit of ₦23.85 trillion, oil production of 1.84 million barrels per day, a benchmark price of $64.85 per barrel, and an exchange rate of ₦1,400 to the dollar.
