DSS Rescues 25 Children Kidnapped in Plateau State, Victims Reunited with Families

The Department of State Services (DSS) has successfully rescued 25 children who were abducted by gunmen in the Sabon Layi community of Wase Local Government Area, Plateau State. The victims were handed over to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Samuel Jatau, on Saturday in Jos.

The children were kidnapped on the evening of December 21, 2025, while traveling as a group to celebrate Maulud. According to Jatau, the attackers disguised themselves as vigilantes, luring the children before abducting them to an unknown location. Three of the victims had earlier managed to escape.

Thanks to a prompt manhunt led by the DSS, all the kidnapped children were rescued unharmed. Jatau confirmed that the group included 19 boys and six girls, and that they had been medically cleared before being reunited with their families. The SSG commended the DSS for their swift and effective response, bringing relief to the affected community.
