Nigerian Air Force Strikes Terrorist Hideouts, Neutralises Fighters in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), as part of Operation HADIN KAI, has successfully destroyed terrorist boats and neutralised several insurgents in coordinated night airstrikes across Kukawa Local Government Area in Borno State. Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the development on X.

The operations targeted terrorist positions along the Malimbe–Masaram Island axis and Northern Tumbuns, following intelligence reports of increased insurgent movement. Precision-guided munitions were used to minimise collateral damage. Several fighters from Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) were killed, while boats used for transport and logistics were destroyed. Survivors reportedly fled toward Abadam in disarray.

The NAF also carried out an airstrike on January 20 against a newly identified ISWAP enclave, codenamed “Rackstar,” used for weapons servicing and IED assembly. Surveillance confirmed the presence of fighters, active structures, a solar panel, and a black flag, which were subsequently targeted, degrading the group’s operational capabilities.

These air operations are part of ongoing efforts to deny terrorists freedom of movement and sanctuary in the Lake Chad basin and surrounding riverine areas, while heightened surveillance continues to protect local communities from potential reprisal attacks.
