Ongoing coordinated military air strikes and ground operations in Kwara State have targeted terrorist and kidnapper hideouts across Ifelodun, Edu, and Patigi Local Government Areas, resulting in the destruction of several camps and the neutralisation of numerous suspected bandits.
SaharaReporters reports that key targets include notorious camps in the Baba Sango axis of Ifelodun, Gbugbu forest in Edu, and Lata community in Patigi. Preliminary security updates indicate that sustained assaults have thrown criminal networks into disarray, forcing many to flee while sustaining casualties.
The operations, combining aerial bombardment with ground troop maneuvers, aim to dismantle the logistics, leadership structures, and operational bases of gangs terrorising communities along the Kwara–Niger axis. Several camps have reportedly been destroyed, with bandits either neutralised or escaping with serious injuries.
Military authorities have raised concerns over informants within local communities who leak troop movements, warning that such actions undermine the effectiveness of the campaign. Residents have been urged to cooperate fully with security agencies, identify collaborators, and avoid shielding criminals, as this prolongs insecurity and endangers lives.
Operations remain ongoing, with troops maintaining pressure on fleeing criminals and expanding clearance efforts across forests and border communities. Security officials assured the public of the military’s commitment to restoring peace and called for timely, credible intelligence to ensure the lasting success of the campaign.
