Dangote Refinery Reaffirms PMS Supply, Explains Post-Festive Price Realignment

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has restated its commitment to keeping Nigeria’s fuel market stable and ensuring uninterrupted nationwide supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). The company emphasized that recent pricing decisions were made with long-term stability and affordability in mind, especially after temporary interventions during the festive season.

According to the Refinery, a deliberate price support measure was introduced over the holidays to ease pressure on Nigerians during a period of increased household spending. This is the second festive season in a row where the company absorbed extra costs in the national interest, following logistics support in 2024 and a direct price reduction in 2025.

Despite the downward price adjustment at the time, the Refinery noted that several filling stations did not reflect the new price at the pump. This, it said, prevented many Nigerians from enjoying the intended benefits of the reduction during the festive period.

With the holidays now over, PMS prices have been moderately adjusted to more sustainable levels. Under the current structure, the gantry price stands at ₦799 per litre, while MRS retail outlets are selling at ₦839 per litre.

The Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, disclosed that the facility continues to supply about 50 million litres of PMS daily to the domestic market. He added that fuel evacuation and distribution across the country are proceeding without disruption.

Bird also explained that the Refinery’s operational flexibility allows it to process different types of crude and intermediate feedstocks. This design, he said, enables continuous PMS production even during scheduled maintenance activities, helping to guarantee stable supply.

As a local producer, the Refinery stressed that it plays a key role in protecting Nigeria from the volatility of fuel imports and external supply chain shocks. The company described itself as a stabilizing force in the downstream petroleum sector.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery reaffirmed that its focus remains on strengthening energy security, maintaining price stability, and delivering long-term value to Nigerians.
