PRESS STATEMENT
The Nigeria Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (NMSC) strongly condemns the United States provocative actions against Comrade Raúl Castro and the Cuban Revolution
It considers the accusations by the US Department of Justice against
General Raúl Castro Ruz, historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, an insult.
This action by the U.S. government is politically motivated, hypocritical, and a continuation of decades of imperialist hostility against the people of Cuba and their Socialist Revolution.
The US has no moral right or any legitimacy to criminalize leaders of a sovereign nation for defending their territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
The allegations against Comrade Raul are based on the February 24, 1996 downing of two aircraft of the terrorist organization, Brothers to the Rescue which invaded the Cuban airspace while on a spying mission.
We urge trade unions, peoples’ movements, students, and democratic forces across Nigeria and Africa to reject this dangerous provocation and intensify solidarity with socialist Cuba.
We say say to the US ‘Hands Off Cuba!’
